BlackRock’s IBIT Surpasses SPLG in 2025 Inflows, Nears Top ETF Rankings
IBIT has overtaken SPLG in 2025 net inflows, reaching $13.75 billion and becoming the fourth largest ETF by new capital this year.
The ETF is now ranked fifth in three-year inflows, marking a sharp rise for a fund that launched only 18 months ago.
VOO continues to dominate the market, but IBIT’s growth reflects increasing confidence in regulated crypto investment products.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has moved ahead of the SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPLG) in year-to-date inflows, according to the latest data tracked by Bloomberg. The shift places IBIT in fourth position among all U.S.-listed exchange-traded funds for 2025 inflows, with net inflows of approximately $13.75 billion.
Although only 18 months old, IBIT has already surged into the charts of ETF inflows. An older S&P 500 index tracker, SPLG, had a close 2025 inflow of $13.74 billion. Such a small margin indicates a more fundamental shift in market dynamics as institutional investors are found to deploy more capital within regulated crypto-linked products and traditional equity-based ETFs.
General Investment Trend
The change in ranking signals growing institutional interest in Bitcoin exposure through regulated vehicles. Analysts, including Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas, have noted that IBIT's performance is not merely symbolic. It reflects a material shift in how large-scale investments are being split between conventional securities and crypto assets.
Even IBIT has appeared on the three-year ETF inflows leaderboard, even though it was only eligible recently. It indicates the interest in crypto ETFs that grows ever faster and increases tolerability in mainstream portfolios. The fund currently has the fifth-highest overall three-year flows, which reflects its pace in a fairly short term.
VOO Continues to Lead ETF Market
Meanwhile, Vanguard’s VOO remains dominant, attracting nearly $82 billion in inflows this year. That includes a record-breaking performance in June alone. While VOO holds the top position by a wide margin, the rise of IBIT shows that crypto-based ETFs are gaining significant ground even in a competitive space dominated by equity index giants.
Commentators have emphasized that institutional investors are entering the Bitcoin market through accessible and compliant pathways. The rise of IBIT confirms that despite ongoing concerns around volatility, Bitcoin products are securing a firm place within core investment strategies.
